I'm a web, print, and information designer living and working in Calgary, AB. I'm a socially- and environmentally-concious individual, promoting healthy choices for all that I can. I love how the web makes collaboration possible across cities, countries, and the world. I believe in making a difference, and love contributing to the world in a positive way.
Questionnaire
Q: The key to successful projects is...
Inspiration and motivation - the two go hand in hand. If I'm inspired, I'm almost always (and automatically) motivated. It makes the work I do fun and exciting!
Q: Why I picked this career...
To use my creativity, and make things pretty! (note: functionality is part and parcel of "pretty"!)
What "pretty" means varies per project - is something beautiful in grunge? Is it gorgeously vintage? Is it clean and modern? Refined and sophisticated? Context is key!
Q: Why I started to freelance...
I'm inspired by my clients - they are so excited and interested in what they want to do, and I get excited helping them do it! Many corporations see design as a "necessary evil" that they "have" to spend money on to "satisfy" their customer base - not my clients! And I love them for it :)
Q: My hidden agenda...
To do awesome, beautiful work and make money in order to feed my starving self :) and maybe go on a vacation or two, if there's time.
Q: When I'm not working, I...
am hanging with my friends, enjoying the outdoors, dancing, volunteering, and adding new pieces to my personal portfolio web site, www.kathrynleeid.com. I can aslo be seen checking out the latest on web design and development blogs (Build !nternet, Just Creative Design, and Webdesigner Depot are personal faves).
